New Vital Focus Report Examines Housing and Homelessness in Guelph-Wellington

This October, the Guelph Community Foundation is proud to release a new Vital Focus Report. The report provides a snapshot of housing and homelessness in Guelph-Wellington, bringing together local data, research, and community insights to help residents better understand the realities of homelessness and the actions needed to address it.

Developed with contributions from United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin, the Guelph & Wellington Poverty Elimination Collaborative, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health, Toward Common Ground, and the County of Wellington, the report combines local data, evidence-based research, and community insights.

As of July 2026, 308 people were experiencing chronic homelessness in Guelph-Wellington. At the same time, the report highlights local successes, including a 71 per cent reduction in chronic youth homelessness since 2018 and the development of new supportive and transitional housing projects across the region.

This report was made possible by generous support from BDO.

We invite you to read the full report to learn more about the realities of homelessness in our community, the actions being taken to address it, and the evidence-based solutions helping create lasting change!
