If your organization receives funding from The Guelph Community Foundation (GCF), we appreciate public recognition wherever possible. This applies if your organization applied for a grant from GCF or if you received funding from a donor-advised fund held by the Foundation.
Grants from GCF are made possible by generous donors who have contributed funds to help where it is needed most. Public recognition of received funds acknowledges donors who have contributed to GCF and it educates the general public about the good work that is happening in the community. Recognition lends further credibility to your efforts and draws more positive public attention to your organization.
Recognition of funding received also helps us raise awareness about the benefits of having a Community Foundation serve Guelph and Wellington County. By raising awareness about GCF, you help us increase the amount of support we receive which then increases the amount of funding available to assist the important charitable work you do.
Wherever possible, when you communicate about the initiative(s) that have received funding (whether communicated online or in print) we ask that you acknowledge GCF’s support. For example, include written recognition and our logo in your annual report along with your other supporters.
We understand that the type of recognition you are able to provide will depend upon the nature of how you handle recognition at your organization, but it should include some or all of the following:
Announcement of Grants Received
Include the news of the grant received in your organization’s publications, such as newsletters or annual reports. An example of this recognition in writing includes: “This project was funded (or funded in part) by a grant from The Guelph Community Foundation”, or “(Your Charity’s Name) is supported by funding through the (name of specific fund), a fund held by the Guelph Community Foundation”.

Reporting

Final Reports for Grant Recipients
All successful GCF grant applicants are required to complete a follow up report as the final stage of our granting process. These reports will be assigned to successful grant recipients through the Grant Portal where they applied. The reporting deadline is typically 10-11 months after funds have been received. In the follow up report form we do not require receipts. Completion of a follow up report is a condition to be eligible to apply for the next round of that grant stream.
We ask for any photographs, testimonials or stories that can help us promote your charity’s programming to the community. Privacy is very important to us, so please ensure you receive permission from all participants before releasing any information to us. GCF may feature your story and any submitted photographs in our annual reports, e-newsletters and on social media. GCF works with local donors and our fundholders to help match their interests with impactful non-profits.
While GCF will publicize grant distributions through our media releases each grant cycle, it is your charity’s unique story that is of most interest to the media. Your follow up report can inspire our donors and help both your organization and ours meet our common goal of service to the community.
