Being active members of the community has been important for Gary and Wynne Christie (photo left). Involved in many charitable organizations through the community, the Christie’s understand the need for funding. With the creation of two funds, the Thelma Townsend Fund and the Wynne Townsend Christie Fund, they will be able to help the community in a regular and lasting way. “According to ancient wisdom, when you make a decision today, you should determine what influence it will have 7 generations later,” says Gary Christie.

With their children being the 4th generation living in Guelph, the Christie’s are strongly connected to the community. “We wanted to establish endowments in our community that will assist charities in our lifetime, and allow our children to maintain and grow that endowment well into the future. We are hoping that our endowment encourages others in the community to do the same thing.” This commitment also includes ongoing operating support to The Guelph Community Foundation.

“Supporting The Guelph Community Foundation is a positive way to keep our community strong,” says Wynne. “They are the only organization that works with all of the charitable sector and provide donors a great service.”

Through the endowments, the Christie’s can grant funds in response to needs and ensure that the organizations that are important to them receive the funding they deserve.
