Last fall the Eden Mills Writers’ Festival brought together readers, writers, and families for a three day celebration of Canadian literature. Attendance reached 1,797 people, including more than 1,000 on Sunday, marking a 55% increase from the previous year! The 2025 festival featured 51 Canadian authors, expanded children’s programming, and a marketplace with over 40 booksellers and publishers. The festival saw a growing and engaged audience, as they reaffirmed their strong commitment to diverse voices and inclusive storytelling.
The funding from a Musagetes 2025 grant supported the operational needs of the festival, allowing the organization to deliver a full three day program while increasing capacity and participation. Programming included writing workshops, expanded library events during the the main outdoor festival as well as virtual events which reached 126 participants improving access for those facing barriers. The attendees were a mix of community members, educators, and authors of all levels. Emerging writers gained valuable opportunities, while audiences engaged with timely and meaningful conversations.
Eden Mills Writers’ Festival is a literary organization that celebrates Canadian writers while fostering connection through reading, writing, and dialogue. Its programming brings together established and emerging voices, showcasing diverse perspectives across genres. Through strong partnerships with libraries, schools, and arts organizations, the festival continues to expand its reach and support readers and writers year round.
The 2025 festival showed clear growth, strong attendance, and enthusiastic community response. Expanded children’s programming and new family passes responded to community demand, while popular panels drew large audiences and encouraged meaningful discussion. The festival also put out newsletters connected with over 4,000 readers. The festival coninutes to be a vibrant cultural hub, bringing people together through stories, ideas, and shared experiences.
