The Guelph Community Foundation staff and board had a fantastic time attending the Guelph Awards of Excellence last week. On June 18, the Guelph Chamber of Commerce welcomed business and community leaders to the Delta Guelph to celebrate the achievements of outstanding local businesses, organizations, and individuals. Thank you to the Guelph Chamber of Commerce for all of their work in putting together an evening filled with community connection and elegance.
This year’s Awards felt especially meaningful, as two incredible members of our community were honoured. One of our dedicated volunteers and former Board Member, Ray Stultz, was a Volunteer of the Year finalist, and one of GCF’s newest Board members, Lloyd Longfield, was celebrated with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Finalist Ray Stultz had been volunteering with the Foundation for years, and it was so great to see his impact on the charitable sector being recognized. Ray brings a wealth of knowledge and positivity to every role he takes on, and we were proud to celebrate his contributions alongside fellow finalists Ed Ross and awardee Janet Trowbridge.
Thank you Ray for all you do to support our work, the work of United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin, Guelph Chamber of Commerce, Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario Wellington Guelph, and so many other organizations, and for everything you do for our community!
It was inspiring to hear from Lloyd Longfield as he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. As a former Member of Parliament for Guelph and past President and CEO of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce, he was well deserving of this recognition for his years of service and care for the community he lives in and represents. His longstanding commitment to service has made a lasting impact, and we are excited to work along side him and have his leadership and experience on our Board!
We also recognized the three amazing non profit finalists for the Not for Profit of the Year Award, Guelph Wish Fund for Children, Hopewell Support Services, and Stepping Stone, for the impactful and transformative work they do for the people of Guelph.
We are so thrilled for our fellow charitable sector finalists who are doing incredible work every day at their Guelph non profits, including Young Professional of the Year Award recipient Amanda Kavchak from Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, Executive of the Year finalist Helen Fishburn from Canadian Mental Health Association Waterloo Wellington, and finalist Julie Byczynski from The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital. Thank you for everything you and your teams do in this non-profit world of ours!
A huge congratulations to all of the finalists and the winners at the event. It was so wonderful getting to connect and celebrate with you and all the attendees; Guelph is made up of such remarkable people!
