Message from the Board

Guelph has always been a giving and supportive community and moving into our 25th year the Guelph Community Foundation is ready to leverage the power of opportunity to amplify the good being done in our city.

This Foundation was started by a group of friends to improve and support our community. While many members of that original group now contribute through their legacy, the current team of leaders is stewarding the Foundation toward a sustainable future.

As a Board, we recognize our responsibilities are fiduciary oversight, resource capacity and future casting. We take those responsibilities seriously on behalf of fellow fund holders, donors and grantees. Volunteer Board members spent hours on the phone with community members to ensure personal, timely conversations could occur in light of staff changes. We heard many sentiments and many messages that support our plan to interview candidates for permanent staff leadership and have the board return to a governance role.

Fundholders & Donors, your ongoing support is critical to our purpose and we are here to assist you. Your calls, inquiries or requests for information will be responded to promptly. As a model, Community Foundations offer choice, stability and support across community focused groups and causes. We believe the Guelph community  is greatly enriched by the Foundation facilitating these opportunities. From one place you can direct your support to any multitudes of needs knowing your impact will resonate. That continues with several new funds added this summer.

Grantees, our granting portal will open in this fall. You can continue to rely on the Guelph Community Foundation to flow funds to you from your supporters. Our experienced Grants Manager, Christina Mongeon has returned from leave and is here to assist you.We appreciate what the founders started almost 25 years ago, and we’ll continue to do our part as stewards in our community. Volunteers and donors, we know you have always been willing to support us and we are eager to engage with you to propel the Foundation forward.  A strategic review process has begun with a comparator review and will continue with fundholder and community conversations this fall. Please stay connected on our social channels, be on the newsletter list and watch for posts at guelphcf.ca.
