2025: Make your Mark – Inspired by Kayla Chadwick

“I’m going to make my mark by helping others because I like being kind to people and helping.  I can help by starting over again with them or smiling.  That is how I’m going to make my mark!”  -Kayla

Kayla accomplished so much in such a short time. She was an extraordinary girl that stood out to everyone. Kayla was a tiny girl with an enormous heart; she was passionate, driven and brave. She was a supportive and encouraging friend, always there for everyone, a true friend who was not afraid to share her love.

On December 12, 2019, beautiful Kayla suffered a seizure in the middle of the night, one she was unable to over-come.  Sadly, Kayla passed away in her sleep at the age of ten.  Although never formally diagnosed with Epilepsy, it was determined that she had passed away from SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy).

The Make your Mark Fund was created in memory of Kayla by her family in the hopes that by sharing Kayla’s story, they can bring education, raise awareness, and research to Epilepsy and SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy).

All funds raised will be granted to offer support and research dedicated to Epilepsy and SUDEP in the Guelph community, in Ontario, and Canada.

Since establishing this fund in 2021, Kayla’s family, friends and community have built this endowed fund to over $86,000. This means that in Kayla’s memory, local, provincial and national organizations supporting education and research will forever receive financial support.
